Iranian Garden can be considered as one of the greatest achievements of Iranian culture and civilization which over the years presented the view of Iranian human towards the world around, and formed a part of its ontology. Iranian garden is genuine product of the interaction of mind and Iranians life in their natural environment (Mansouri, 2005). Iranian human’s perception of Garden is its understanding of nature, and contains its aestheticism taste toward elements of this world and their concepts. Cultural and political interactions that governing human society, has made this unparalleled product to be considered by many governors and artists from other civilizations for centuries. Hence, different levels of effects of such garden-building can be seen in landscaping arts of various ethnicities and civilizations across the world. By conflicts of Timur’s offspring, Timurids government in Iran was declined, but Timur’s descendants formed a new government in India that Europeans called it the Great Mugal (Ansari, 2011). Timur and his successors were interested to the Iranian Garden and Gardens of Samarkand are proof of this claim. Therefore, after dominance of Goorkani dynasty on Indian subcontinent, Iranian garden was entered in India as a perfect product along with new governors. yet, by accepting the fact that Iranian garden is a phenomenon of mixed nature and culture, this issue arises that existence of major differences between the new and former host regarding components such as: worldview, culture, art and particularly continent has led to changes in concept of Iranian garden. Basically, the new host had different perception about Iranian garden and its components. Research trip to India provided an opportunity that researcher investigating different aspects of the constructed Iranian gardens and also to evaluating the domain of changes created in concepts and the shape of the garden by adjustment comparison with domestic samples. Accordingly, instances of Iranian garden existed in India and their components were studied separately in a series of parallel studies, as a result new thinking and perception of garden can be identified.
2345-66122320140601Domination over Nature in Tomb-Gardens of Indiaسلطه ابنیه بر طبیعت در ساختار باغ مقبره های هند8135678FAمریم اکبریانکارشناس ارشد معماری منظرJournal Article20140621

The surfaces made of natural and artificial elements such as stone, brick, soil and non-arable land has are called, "hard landscape". In Persian Garden pattern, soft and hard surfaces are clearly separated from each other and this is visible in distinct areas. Although the gardens constructed in Indian Mughal kings era have followed the manner of Iranian gardening in terms of design pattern, building blocks and elements, and they can be called a species of Iranian gardens, but there exist some differences between them with the main examples, which can be observed with presence in the garden. The difference in hard landscape is one of these occurrences. In Indian gardens with Persian pattern, hard surfaces and floor-building are more extensive compared with those of Iran and more extensive garden and this significantly influenced the garden landscape in an obvious and perceived way. This study attempts to challenge the hard landscape difference, investigating the elements and characteristics of the garden environmental design and examining Indian examples. Accordingly, it is determined that the extension of hard surfaces and their geometric order based on straight lines and orthogonal angles in the absence of dense vegetation cause that Indian garden be perceived as more regular than Persian garden and its hard landscape find a double manifestation. In order to prove this, the hard landscape elements and qualities obtained by using them in Indian garden design are examined for the visual and perceived impact of proportionality change between the hard and soft landscape of garden to be specified in viewer’s look.

The belvedere as one of the most important elements of Iranian garden is that part of garden that you can look through it from an upper level towards the garden. This element, in Iran and India’s gardens, seems very differently. In the Iranian garden, it is selection of a point for looking at the garden’s landscape. In this case, viewer’s look is completely referred to the garden’s view and is tied up to its aesthetical elements. In the Indian garden, point of the belvedere is not that important. Iranian gardens are known for their unique style and identity in the world, which remained intact against political attacks and turned into traditions. Although Indian garden design differs from Iranian design and took on Indian identity through Mughal history, Indian basis, and climate, it has been largely influenced by Iranian scheme. It is inevitable to recognize the role of water as the most pleasant common hallmark of Iranian gardens to understand Indian garden design.
The present paper aims to prove that the concept of water in Iranian garden changed when used in India and affected by various factors. Water is used for scene and landscape design and a symbol of cleanliness, dynamism, and motion in Iran (symbolic); in contrast, it is used to decorate gardens in India (decorative).
Research indicates that in Indian gardens, water is running in very delicately designed streams which overemphasize the streams more than water itself.
